Every day, we’re exposed and surrounded by noise, not only the physical, external one but the noise of our own thoughts and associated feelings.
Messages, expectations, deadlines, opinions, likes and dislikes, desires… So many noisy and unsettling feelings that come and go fast leaving us tired… Each one pulls our attention in a different direction. We wake up, check our phones, rush through tasks, answer questions, worry about outcomes, we are losing ourselves in past memories and waste of thinking… and we fall asleep with a sense of lack of fulfillment.
Somewhere in all of this, we forget to ask: What actually matters?
Who Am I in all of these?
Not just what appears to be urgent. Not what others expect. But what truly matters to me, deeply, quietly…to the true me…?
We live in a time where being “busy” is almost a badge of honor. We fill every moment not with meaningful choices, purpose or ever lasting fulfillment achievements , but with increasing pressure. The world teaches us to measure our value by how much we produce, how fast we respond, how well we perform.
And so we keep going. Faster, louder, more distracted. We listen to everything and everyone- except ourselves.
But deep within us, there is always a signal. A whisper. Something steady, calling us back to clarity.
The challenge is not that our truth is hidden. The challenge is that it’s drowned out by the noise. And even more…we are not aware of what has happened to us.
Listening to what truly matters begins with quiet. Not just external silence, but internal stillness…far from the noise and speed especially of our own mind…
It may not be as easy at first. When we stop, we might feel restless. Uncomfortable. Our minds may race. But this is just the surface. If we stay long enough with the attention to the silence that we are, beyond the noise of the mind, we begin to hear, to sense something else…someone else… a silent presence within…
We hear what we have been missing…
What we have been longing for…
What we’ve been ignoring…
And, most importantly, what we already know...
This is not about rejecting the world - it’s about choosing where to invest your attention… About remembering that not all voices deserve equal volume.
Ask yourself:
What nourishes the true self?
What brings me peace and not just excitement?
What do I miss when life feels too fast?
How do I feel when I slow down?
You’ll notice something interesting: what truly matters isn’t complicated. It’s not loud. It’s quiet, natural and simple …fulfilling. A feeling of coming back home…
Moments of real connection. Time spent in nature. Creative expression. Loving presence. A conversation with someone who sees the true you. A moment where you see yourself.
These are not luxuries. They are necessities. Not extras, but essentials for a meaningful life.
When you see yourself as a guest in this life, you start to enjoy the game of life. You remember the real reason for your existence on the planet.
A guest, a traveller doesn’t collect clutter - not even in their mind. They travel light. They choose only what is useful, what is beautiful, what is aligned with their purpose.
You are that guest on this planet. The mind may forget, but your essence remembers. You are not here to please every voice or to get distracted by the sightseeings. You are here to live in alignment with your own self…the silent one…
When you begin to listen inwardly, you’ll notice something strange and beautiful: the more you honor what matters to you, the more beautiful and enjoyable your outer world becomes.
Not because the world changes. But because your perception does.
Start your day without a screen
Before opening your phone, open your heart and listen, be aware of your feelings... Ask: What is one quality I'd like to experience today… not from others, but from within the self?
Practice doing one thing with full attention
Whether it’s drinking tea, walking, or washing dishes - do it slowly. Be aware of yourself as the guest who enjoys the experiences of the journey but also the reality of the experiencer himself....
Create a “noise detox” moment daily
Even five minutes with no input, no news, no scrolling, no multitasking - can help you hear what really matters…the silence that you are…
Ask better questions
Instead of “What should I do?”, ask “What is meaningful for me right now?”
Instead of “What if I fail?”, ask “What do I value more than temporary success?”
Let yourself say no
To things, people, or plans that don’t resonate to your higher purpose. Every “no” to noise is a “yes” to clarity.
This is not a journey of adding. It is a path of remembering… rediscovering…
You already know what matters. You may have just forgotten how to listen. And that’s okay. The world is loud. But your truth has not gone anywhere. Quietly, silently is waiting for the light of your attention.
Every moment is a new invitation to return to the quiet, content, loving presence that never left. The one you have always been.
So today, pause, bring clarity. Ask yourself gently:
What truly matters now?
And then… trust the answer… the one from the silence within you…
